IMO, IBM is playing it smart by having both options available, while Sun is taking a huge risk that the value proposition that Itanium family provides wont be enough for Sparc users to make the switch. What is the value proposition for Sun? Designing & manufacturing Sparc chips or is it the appliacations/services/solutions it provides to Solaris customers? Me thinks Mcnealy has been driving in the same limo as Jerry Sanders.
