"Canadians have often been militarily unprepared for war" I can only speak for the picture in my den. It shows half the city of Halifax destroyed during ww1. My father and two of his brothers were on the ship next to the one that exploded and destroyed half the city. He tells me they believed it was a german sub. I believe history says the ship exploded from other reasons. All during the war they escorted ships going over the Atlantic . Halifax was a grouping point for the ships before going over to Europe. sometimes the seas were so ruff you could not see the convoy you were protecting. One of his brothers was blown from one end of the ship to the other end and survived.
In grammar school I was remember reading about in our american history as the largest explosion until Japan.
I am sure we will hear on many contributions from Canadians during the wars this article is a cheap shot imo
