My monitor is trying to tell me something ... but what?

Hi, Guys. Happy Thanksgiving! I think I may have trouble coming.

I have a Princeton Graphics 17" SVGA full color monitor, 4 years old, operating on Windows 95. I have my screen saver set to come on in 5 minutes.

Lately, my monitor seems to to be telling me it is not feeling well. There are two symptoms: (1) Every now and then my screen takes on a blue tint for 10-20 seconds, and then snaps out of it to normal. (2) Every now and then a brilliant streak of light flashes down the center of the screen for a second or two, almost like a lightning strike. It disappears just as fast.

I have noticed these symptoms off and on for several weeks, but they seem to be increasing in frequency to the point where they now happen a number of times every day.

Any clues as to why, or what may happen next? Thanks for your usual helpfulness.
