NOK @ 34 vs. 118 for MOT vs. 185 ERICY - After the runup, I am pulling my Strong Buy recommendation on ERICY, but maintaining it on Nokia. Ericsson has not had any earnings this year and their projected earnings for 2002 are only 3 cents, but their price has soared to $5.55 and their P/E on those projected 3 pennies is an unbelievable 185! MOT, likewise has not posted earnings this year, and their P/E on projected earnings is 118! QCOM has not posted any earnings this year, and their P/E on projected earnings is a more reasonable 55. Still, that P/E of 55 for a company that is losing BILLIONS seems crazy when compared to the P/E of Nokia which is only 34 while MAKING BILLIONS! If NOKIA had that 55 P/E, it would be selling for $39.15 a share. If it had the P/E of ERICY, Nokia would be selling for $131.68 a share!!!! Either the rest of the telecom sector has to come down in price, or NOKIA should soar to catch up with their P/E. Personally, I think you should load up! Nokia, the best deal on the street! - Nokia, the best deal on the street! The fact remains that Nokia is the most undervalued TECH stock out there. Throughout this difficult time in the world's economy, Nokia has posted strong revenue and profits. Not one other Telecom Tech company has even posted a profit during the same time! Those companies without profits have gone up to insanely high Price to Sales levels like ERICY, MOT, QCOM and CSCO have. Those same companies have gone up to high Price to Earnings levels, too; while Nokia has stayed down at a low P/E of 34. Would you be willing to put your money into a company with a P/E of 100 - 200 (on projected earnings) or into a company with a P/E of 34 with Fantastic Earnings Growth year over year like Nokia? PRICE PER SALES (P/S) Nokia 4.27 CSCO 7.34 JNPR 8.27 QCOM 17.24 Price per Sales is potentially a very misleading statistic. Your sales can be great and your P/S may be Very Very LOW, but if you are losing money on those sales, it is a waste of time to even consider the company. Of all the telecom sector stocks, only NOKIA is making money in heaps and bunches on their sales. Mot, Ericy, Qcom, Sony and a host of others are all losing money on their sales.
