I put nothing past the Taliban. Religious fanatics often go beyond any realm of reason or rationality. The Taliban seem to be among the most destructive fanatics the world has seen for centuries, if not forever.

But where in that article did it suggest that it "involves culpability on the part of the U.S. and the West in general"? I didn't see that in it. Is there something in the article I missed, or are you basing that on information outside the article?
