>>Elmat: The ideas are still on the same level. Only the noise is gone, Frank! Quality is better than quantity.<<
FAC: Don't bet on it. I've seen more futility and abandonment of spirit, recently, compared to some highly motivated and substantive discussions of four years ago. I wouldn't subscribe to the higher-quality argument, although I would agree with you that on the investment side there was more noise than would be needed to choke an elephant.
Mind you, Ossy, I'm not referring to tge investment hype, though. I'm referring to the high quality of the technical discussions that took place here in SI for the longest time. Specifically, on the agnostic threads of the past, such as the LMT and the VoIP threads, where dialog took place that was highly charged with ideas, and where spirited exchanges took place.
Today? Those same forums lay relatively hollow, if not abandoned, entirely.
Attrition takes its toll. I've seen this before in other venues. I'll see it again, I'm sure. It follows a natural order, I'm convinced... just as with the rise and fall of the majority of ventures in other persuasions. AOL and IBM being possible exceptions, for the moment (next century?), notwithstanding.
