Bill, don't confuse apples and oranges. The "won't have to deal with product activation" concern is resolved by the vendor, who will "pre-activate" a new machine with XP.

However, even this machine can't be used to duplicate the operating system to another machine.

The $89 second copy which I predict will drop to $59 soon will represent, in my humble opinion 2 times the pre-installed rate for the next two years.

Yes, I am aware how much revenue this will add, but what EVERYONE is underestimating is the number of copies of 98 coupled with the free upgrades to XP which ms will release over the next year.

At any rate, all things will be revealed in the fullness of time.
