"Still, Amazon executives remain almost obsessively upbeat. Although they haven't said when they expect to make a real profit they say Amazon is still on track to turn its first-ever pro-forma operating profit this quarter."

In my opinion, I believe Amazon management lies like a rug. I believe they have in the past and there is no reason to expect that to change.

"``If the economic environment hadn't gotten so bad we actually would have been well ahead of where we thought we would be,'' said David Risher, who heads the company's Worldwide Applications Group."

Excuses??? How about some performance? Tha this a "copout." I can show performance. Wal-mart can shor performance on a world wide basis. This is pure bullsh*t.

Bill,

Do you believe AOL or someone else will give Amazon more money to get through Q1 2002 or do you truly believe they will not more money? This is a loaded question because being incorrect on cash needs is important stuff.
