Re: AMD XP is gasping for air on 0.18u, and 0.13u is nowhere in sight

AMD's .18 128mm2 Athlon XP on a 266mhz FSB significantly outperforms Intel's .18 217mm2 P4 on a 400mhz FSB.

So far, the chips from Intel's .13 generation havne't been able to keep up with either Intel or AMD .18 parts in terms of performance, and the .13 79mm2 mobile PIII uses almost as much power as the .18 128mm2 mobile Athlon4.

AMD's .13 Thoroughbred was demonstrated at Comdex, and pictures of samples have been leaked to the web.

Intel is just getting started on SOI, having started working with copper too late to learn that SOI is necessary for a performance .13.

Intel looks to be facing a .13 generation as bad as was AMD's .25 generation.

Ouch!
