You must have missed it when Paul Otellini stated his goal of 3.0GHz before the end of next year. In case you didn't know, this will be on Intel's .13u process. Yet even with SOI AMD won't even be able to reach that high - not with megahertz, and not even with inflated K7 modelhertz. Instead, they will need super-inflated K8 modelhertz to break the "3000" barrier. Intel is claiming realistic performance in the future, while AMD is left to wishful thinking. What makes them think that a M3400 Hammer will really perform as good as a Pentium 4 at 3.4GHz? Time will tell, but I'm sure AMD has no idea.
