TOKYO (AP) Tokyo stocks advanced early Monday, bolstered by Friday's rally on Wall Street. The dollar was sharply higher against the yen.
The benchmark 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 100.30 points, or 0.94 percent, to 10,797.12 at the open. On Thursday, the average closed up 35.74 points, or 0.34 percent.

The dollar bought 124.38 yen in early trading, up 1.16 yen from late Thursday at 123.22 yen in Tokyo but remained unchanged from its late Friday's level in New York.

Financial markets in Tokyo were closed Friday for a national holiday.

On the stock market, the blue-chip Nikkei index climbed as investors bid up technology issues following gains in U.S. stocks on Friday.
