Ban Ban MindBlo - Re: "AMD will ship three versions of Hammer during the second half of next year"

How anyone can get excited about a chip that's a year away, if everything goes right out of a mountain of critical dependencies, is beyond me. I honestly believe AMD does best case schedules, with no contingency for gotchas, which are as sure as death and taxes.

Jeez - Hector said these would ship in Q4 of this year and Q1 of 2002 - maybe AMD is lying again !!

If you listen to Hector and Jerry, or is it Ben and Jerry, or Tom and Jerry, every time an analyst asks them about a schedule item, they parrot "it's on schedule" without pausing to think or offering any contingencies. It's obvious they both say whatever they think needs to be heard. Rule of thumb: take any schedule of AMD's and multiply it by 1.5.
