Adding ACLA, LMNX, and ILMN to the WatchList. All of these are "old line" BLUE H stocks of the CALP vintage. ACLA competes with CALP, while LMNX and ILMN offer AFFX a run for its money. Folks who have already done some research on these or feel like getting started are welcome to. I have finally caught up my research projects, and will start something else . . . after a rest.

For now, note that ILMN and LMNX offer what I think are comparable systems, but LMNX is ahead in the marketplace. We know the ACLA/CALP patent war saga, now over. As a result of winning it, CALP owns some ACLA and is getting some cash too, if memory serves. ACLA's technology is second generation and seems to be focused on lower production costs. There may be other slight advantages due to the different materials used. Private Fluidigm might IPO for us someday; they seem to have the 3rd generation microfluidics tech.

Dropping Trickle disaster GNSL. Even though they apparently resolved their legal problems with PKI, PKI's munch of PBSC may well marginalize what's left of that distribution agreement. There appears to be a good deal of overlap in the product lines. Hoping somebody munches them so Trickle's loss will be mitigated, but not counting on it.

Also dropping GNOM, to be munched by EXEL, which I recently added.

Cheers, Tuck
