*OT* >>B-52's<<

Every year we have an exercise called Maple Flag where we play aggressor in our B-52s and Canada tries to catch us before we hit our target in your country. We usually fly around the "cold Lake" area but sometimes wander outside trying different headings and angles of attack. Yes, we used that area since it did resemble the northern Soviet areas during the cold war but we still have that exercise to this day.

Once we find someone out there in the sticks, we generally try to put on a show so once they saw you, they probably circled your spot on the map and made it a point to buzz you each day.

I felt really sorry for a guy in northern Maine one time on a regular training exercise. We were flying around in the middle of no where just messing around and spotted a pick up truck, we decided to find it's owner and after about a half hour of circling around, we spotted a quad runner but still no person, another 10 minutes or so of circling around and we decided to follow a stream and finally found him. We circled back around to get a running start and dropped to the deck where he just about could have reached up and touched us. Poor guy, here he had driven as far as his truck would take him to get away from everyone, then rode his quad until it would go no further then hiked teh last mile or so to make sure he would not be distrurbed. Of course we came from behind and B-52s at full speed don't make a sound until they are well past you. The guy probably had a coronary right there in the middle of no where. We are mean that way.

The only time I know of we got in trouble for this was when we went on a dino hunt at Loc Ness. No air traffic is allowed within a mile of the prince's castle by the lake. We of course buzzed it and had the Royal Police waiting for us when we landed. Ooops! -ggg- ( We never did find the dino )

Good Luck,

Lee
