Made it over to the gas kiln yesterday. Scraped and put new coatings of kiln wash on about 20 of the shelves. The rest were fine. Also fired up the beast and ran it on real low for about an hour or two with the door open. Burners seem to be working fine.

I need to do some fudging around with things. One of the stipulations to me having the kiln there was that I needed to have some safety stuff in place. What they decided to go with was this stupid electric eye to monitor a burner. Only frigging problem is tat at higher temps the plastic coating and even the aluminum part get too hot and the frigging thing shuts down.

Have to figure out a way to bypass all this crap.

Just totally absurd. In all my years of firing kilns I have never encountered such bass ackwards people. I suppose that's part of the territory when you tell someone you are burning 840,000 BTUs/hour. If they are3 not in the know they thing you're getting ready to blast a shuttle into space!

I didn't get to trim the pieces from yesterday, still too wet. Some time today I will have to do so. Also after recalculating, I figure I will need about 90 pieces using 12" posts to fill the kiln(this includes about a 10% loss rate prior to the glaze firing. That should be a lay up for me. LOL, mopre like 20% loss rate before they get to the bisque stage<GGG>
Have a good day. I'll post my progress.

P.S> Your wood carving sounds very intriguing, but I admit to knowing next to nothing about it. SO, if you care to discuss it or even journal some of your progress here, I would eagerly read it and I mighht even learn something if I'm not careful :)
