He seems to be saying only that he finds the cloning issue more important than the war on terrorism.

What if he were saying that he finds removing Condit or winning the Superbowl more important than fighting terrorism? Some might say that conquering racism is more important than fighting terrorism. Or stopping assisted suicide in Oregon. Or getting the Nasdaq back up to where it was.

As a matter or public policy, I wouldn't put anything ahead of fighting terrorism right now. I just heard someone say on TV that the Senate was too busy with the war right now and wouldn't get around to a bill on cloning any time soon. I definitely agree with that priority and disagree with Novak's. So my question to you is, how do you determine which issues can legitimately be put ahead of the war on terrorism without being unpatriotic?
