I should not tolerate bigotry without at least voicing my protest even if bigotry now comes under the euphemism "politically incorrect."

During WWII, American Jewish leaders knew about the Holocaust and that European Jews were suffering mass murder, yet there were no rallies to petition the goverment to attack the logistics of the slaughter. One might ask why? My answer is that they didn't feel "American" enough to face the rampant US anti-semitism and to try to impose their will on "their" government. I believe that part of their feeling of disenfranchisement was caused by the fact that they had heard the Christian Lord's Prayer repeated at every assembly when they were in public school.

I relate this to illustrate that seemingly benign instances of discrimination, may have devastating effects.
