Right now no, however I think that it has in the past....
I think we're on the same page here. Looking at Afghanistan where whimsy allows one to switch sides at the drop of a coin (or for a coin :o) does the US really want to pin hopes or get lastingly involved with such a tribal group. Personally I think not. Cultivating Iran is a better prospect.
