True. But the Western tradition always differed in considering the woman as a person, not just a vessel for a man's honor. So they would allow a husband to kill as punishment for actual adultery (a sin), but not for a husband's unfounded jealousy. Furthermore, it was never allowable to kill a wife because she had been raped -- it was only allowed to kill the rapist. In the Arab tradition, it doesn't make much difference whether a woman consents to extramarital sex or not -- the vessel has still been broken, and must be destroyed to salvage the family honor.
