Intimidation and intolerance of divergent viewpoints on college campus is not really a recent development. It was as rampant in the mid-70's (when I attended college) as it is now. Some of the subjects are still the same, as well: the Middle East, affirmative action, feminism, gay rights, racism. The chances of having an open and honest discussion on any of those subjects was no better then than now.
