Kastel, Touche! Meanwhile I want to be counted among the people encouraging Iraq to allow UN weapons inspectors back into the country immediately in order to ascertain whether Mssr. Hussein has/has not built weapons of mass destruction.
I call upon the peoples of Iraq to show your goodwill toward the peoples of the world and allow such inspections!
In Texas they have a saying: "Only yellow lines and dead armadillos remain in the middle of the road"... Time to make a choice Mssr. Hussein- Think wisely and choose peace and brotherhood/ sisterhood with the world's peoples.....
from CNN:
And that sacrifice, he continued, will have to be extended to other operational theaters as the United States and its allies seek to smash international terrorist groups, and stem the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Iraq, the president said, is now under close scrutiny.
Afghanistan, a feisty Bush said, "is just the beginning."
Bush called on Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein to allow United Nations weapons inspectors to come back into the country "in order to prove to the world he's not developing weapons of mass destruction."
Teams of weapons inspectors fanned out across Iraq through much of the last decade in a concerted attempt to discover the extent of Iraqi weapons research and production, and to dismantle and destroy weapons stores, warheads and delivery systems in accordance with U.N. resolutions set in place following the end of the Gulf War.
There have been no international weapons inspection teams allowed into Iraq since 1998.
Asked what the consequences would be if Hussein refused allow inspectors back into the country, Bush replied, "He'll find out."
Later, White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer disputed suggestions that the president was elevating the possibility that Iraq could be the next target of U.S. military action. Bush's comments, he said, were "nothing new."
Without naming specific countries, Bush said other nations could face U.S. reprisals.
"If they fund a terrorist, they're a terrorist. If they house terrorists, they're terrorists. I mean, I can't make it any more clear... to other nations around the world. If they develop weapons of mass destruction that will be used to terrorize nations, they will be held accountable," the president said. |
