Actually, I think the chances for an open discussion are improving.

I recently raised the subject of racial profiling on BB. I was very surprised at how little argument was generated.

I suspect I could would find the same with affirmative action now, and maybe I'll raise it one of these days.

Feminism is no longer a monolithic structure with tenets above debate, either. Maybe I will raise for discussion some of the common ones soon. Any suggestions, CR? (Now that I think of it, lol, a couple of hours ago I made a sally in that direction on kissy kissy with a comment taking exception to the feminist cliche that makeup represents an oppressive "veil" for western women analogous to the burqa of the ME.) Much of what was "feminist" in the late 70's is now mainstream, of course.

I have lost rt friends over 911 and the ME. But I don't care.
