I agree completely with your "first of all" point about reproductive cloning.

I am not so sure about your second.

it seems pretty sick to me to produce a duplicate infant. I would think it inevitable
that such a baby would need a live-in shrink practically from birth.


It isn't any more a duplicate then an identical twin is (in fact even less because of different environment both in the womb and after birth). I see possibility for abuse with parents seeking a clone of someone with great talent and expecting the offspring to have such a talent. (for example a clone of Michael Jordan for whom basketball becomes a chore not a fun activity because he was pressured to play and expected to play well from shortly after he was able to walk), but parents put similar unreasonable pressures on non cloned children.
