Is that the story that originated term "trading sardine"?

THE SARDINE STORY-
---““Its about the man who had a warehouse full of canned sardines, which he sold for $50 a carton. The price went up to $70, and the new owner sold it, leading to a whole chain of buys and sells, profits and losses. Eventually the sardines ““rallied”” to $190 a carton, and the last buyer got stuck with them as prices plummeted. He decided to take his loss and just eat the sardines…….until he discovered that they were rotten and were probably inedible all along. Hopping mad, he traced the entire series of transactions back to the original seller and confronted him with the fact that they were rotten. The first seller just eyed him coolly and said, ““Listen, mister, those sardines were for trading-not for eating!””------
