CHINA REPORTS BREAKTHROUGH IN CARBON NANOTUBE PRODUCTION

AsiaPort Nov 20, 2001 – On Nov. 9, the "15 kilograms/h carbon nanotube batch production technology", which is co-developed by Tsinghua University and Shaanxi Nanfeng Chemical Industry Group Shareholdings Co Ltd, passed authentication by experts, signaling that China has made outstanding progress in terms of carbon nanomaterials industrialization.

Thanks to the technology, carbon nanotubes can be produced on a large scale - 15 kilograms per hour. It is estimated that the annual output of carbon nanotubes is to hit 120 tons.

According to experts, the technology is reliable and of top standard in the world. Hence, it should be popularized in the shortest possible time.

Professor Wei Fei from Tsinghua University indicated that the technology has helped to remove the hurdle to the popularization and wide application of carbon nano tubes.

"The application of carbon nanomaterials is to be booming in the coming five years in China." Added Wei.

What's more, aiming to promote the industrialization of this technology, the Tsinghua University and Shaanxi Nanfeng Chemical Industry Group Shareholdings Co Ltd have jointly established Tsinghua-Nanfeng Nano Industrialization Engineering Center.
