ViewCast's Osprey-2000 Integrated with InfoValue Software; InfoValue's QuickVideo Multicast Software Delivers DVD-Quality Video Over Networks

DALLAS, Nov 27, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ViewCast Corporation (Nasdaq:VCST) today announced that InfoValue Computing, Inc., a leading provider of high-performance video streaming software, has integrated ViewCast's Osprey-2000 MPEG encoder card with InfoValue's QuickVideo Multicast 6.1 software. This combination efficiently delivers high quality video to desktop users at a price that most corporations can afford.
ViewCast's Osprey capture cards are the de facto standard in narrowband and broadband streaming applications using industry-standard formats from RealNetworks and Microsoft. The Osprey-2000 product family combines advanced media capture capabilities with cost-effective MPEG encoding to deliver DVD-quality video for networked streaming applications.

The Osprey-2000 provides real-time encoding of either MPEG1 or MPEG2 for both live and on-demand uses. Bridging the gap between the streaming and professional video markets, the Osprey-2000 family also provides professional-quality digital and analog video and audio inputs.

InfoValue's QuickVideo Multicast (QVMC) software uses IP multicast technology to delivery high quality video with easy to use, TV-like operation. QVMC also integrates with other InfoValue products, to enable innovative features such as instant replay, automatic recording, and video archiving. QVMC seamlessly interacts with the Osprey-2000 encoder to provide live MPEG1 or MPEG2 multicast streams with full-screen resolution and CD-quality audio.

Users can purchase the Osprey-2000 encoder and the QVMC software from authorized ViewCast and InfoValue resellers respectively. The two products are also available as part of a bundle server package, which consists of InfoValue software, pre-installed with the Osprey-2000 encoder on a Hewlett-Packard low-profile Netserver computer. This hardware-software bundle provides a convenient and easy-to-use, enterprise-class streaming solution, in a compact and low-cost package. Bundled solutions are available from InfoValue and its authorized resellers.

"The combination of a powerful streaming software suite like InfoValue's QuickVideo Multicast and our Osprey-2000 MPEG encoder brings industry-leading video quality to business desktops. This is a nice design win for ViewCast Osprey Video," said Neal Page, senior vice president and general manager of ViewCast's Osprey division. "Like never before, business video is fast becoming a necessity for corporations to leverage the power of their networks to realize cost and efficiency benefits for training, corporate communications, and information/news distribution. This new, powerful package delivers unparalleled performance at very affordable prices."

"QuickVideo Multicast is easier to deploy, more effective to use and provides lower all-in cost of ownership than any competing system on the market today. Adding Osprey support to the latest version of the software ensures that we are compatible with the streaming media's leading capture cards," said Monsong Chen, President and CEO of InfoValue.
