... putting a damper on the market was a mixed bag of news from Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia Corp. (NOK), which cut its estimate for phone sales this year, helping to send technology equity futures a little further into the red.

Nokia said it sees annual sales growth of about 15 percent and good profitability in 2002. But it also said it expects slightly lower revenues for the first quarter. Nokia shares fell to $24 in pre-open U.S. trade from a Monday close at $25.24 on the New York Stock Exchange. The shares sank 3 percent in European trading.

The Nasdaq-100 pre-market indicator shed 9.45 points, or 0.58 percent, based on trading ahead of the open in the tech-laden index's biggest stocks. Among telecom stocks, U.S.-based Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) fell to $59.70 from $60.40 while Sweden's Ericsson (ERICY) moved to $5.75 from $5.86 ... <<
