Note that WCDMA uses 5Mhz, Edge 0.2MHz.

I was going to wait until the presentations were over to comment on that slide....but since you brought it up, I think I will vent.

What a piece of crap.

They list GPRS rates as 48Kbps....not as a theoretical number, but as a practical rate. Can anybody find an actual user that has seen 48Kbps? How about an independent analyst report of data rates? I think the rates have been clearly around 20Kbps for real world users.

The other thing I find ironic on that slide is that they are comparing 1xrtt with Edge and W-CDMA. This is after clearly labeling 1xrtt as not being 3G in earlier slides. The earlier slides show 1xEV-DO and 1xEV-DV as the competitors to W-CDMA...and yet when they look at data rates they elimanate those technologies.

How about this slide....the one right before the one you sighted.

event.mediaondemand.com

The GSM figure is sighted using the AMR AND Nokia specific capacity enhancements. Hmmmm....you add some antenna arrays for GSM and dont do it for any of the competing technologies. That sounds like a fair represenation of the technologies....

I have said in the past that I have no idea if the Qualcomm waterfall slide represents reality....but I do know that these Nokia slides have taken the war of words another step in the wrong direction. You might as well make up the numbers completely.
