I've been happy with AVG antivirus. I had to switch from InnoculateIT because because my free version doesn't support XP.

I have noticed, however, that AVG updates the virus definition database far less frequently than InnoculateIT. That can't be a good thing. I'm using both. AVG for email and real time monitoring. IT to scan suspicious files with the very latest definitions.
