Stephen - I know at least 2 countries

where the leaders were facing huge problems in terms of their coming elections: yours and mines.

Now our Mr. Schröder is very happy - he's got better than 80% (only the "green" co-warrior Joschka Fischer can beat Schröders popularity sometimes) while the economy sucks like never before - Germany has reached the lowest "growing" (in reality it's exactly the contradiction of growing ggg) of all European nations.

How would Mr. Bush "survive" the near future given the desolate state of the US-economy (which has nothing to do with terrorism) without this war? You there should know that better than me.

Even the internal "old war against citizens" shows a lot of resemblance: rude suppression of critics and surveillance of everybody far beyond "1984" while everybody knows that all this never could prevent terrorism because terrorists are perfect looking like normal brave citizens.

Like nobody needed a war for "hunting" terrorists nobody needed law & order - societies "better" than Nazis and GDR together for detecting terrorists: the one and only target is any kind of opposition.
They both call it "protection of freedom" but in reality freedom is exactly the true enemy they hunt.

Just yesterday I learned in a TV-feature how the near future will look like. You can't believe it: computer-systems identify (and store!!!) in realtime identities of persons walking along cameras, say passengers heading their plane or customers entering a department store.

We are by far "better" handling some of these technical miracles in Germany than US services due to the by far smaller geografic dimensions: There's a complete coverage of mobilphon-supply over Europe, just now a complete surveillance of all (!!!) German highways has been installed - cameras on every single bridge (!!!).

Now they intend to install a few thousends of fingerprint-scanners for recording everybodys(!!!) prints whereever one enter or leave the country - including tourists, of course. Be prepared to enjoy similar feelings like tourist entering US had to eat for years when you should be brave enough to enter a plane to Europe once again.

It's just the next step in a long chain of observation-tools but this step will close the last gap of personal freedom. You don't have to use your plastic again - big brother will know every step you do: and not merely outside your home; private investigation including video-observation will not need a judge anymore.

Even another advantage of US services gets competition from Germans "Verfassungsschutz": they will not only record "where called whom when" (this still happens "automatically" with every call passing a ISDN-unit); in the future all German services can record even mobilphone-calls. Of course this will happen in by far more occasions than your proud industry-spy-agency (why don't you call them "ISA"?) use to handle that today.

Yeah, my loved home-country just need one single other step: death-penalty, aggressive wars and experiments with human beings. Then "we" finally reach the same standards like other "evolved" nations like yours still have.

Again.
