I do not believe that I have a problem. I am curious about "thin SOI" though. There were a number of the articles published before intel announcement (some references on moderated amd thread) about "thin SOI". I am not sure how to interpret "thin SOI" as intel's innovation.

I don't think the thin SOI is particularly Intel's innovation in of itself. Combining it with raised source drain and high-k is, however... New inventions are frequently combining known innovations in new ways and making the result greater than the sum of its parts.

...the matter with bmw was not really about validity of approach but rather that he needed a proof of generic statements made by Intel. The impression that the article gives is that Bohr listed pro and cons and concluded that soi (in general) is a waste of time.

That's where the problem lies, and where I disagree with you. I don't think that Bohr was referring to SOI "in general," just as it was executed in the industry at that point.
