Win Smith,

<<Shoot, my previous article link on this topic, posted in>> Message 16705493, <<went unnoticed except for a PM, and now the opium connection is suddenly a big deal ? I've heard rumors there was a big CIA operation going on in Afghanistan in the '80s, and those guys are supposed to have had a lot of previous experience running drugs in the '60s too. Plus some other operation closer to home in the '80s. >>

The reason you got only a PM is that you've opened up a huge can of worms. I was in Vietnam in '67 and used to get together with Green Berets recently back to HQ from Laos on occasion who had some pretty wild stories to tell.

A google search on "secord nugan hand" turns up 48 hits. I've selected three (Counterculture, Official and a combination of both with other links) to illustrate the contradictory historical record. I would be very curious if unclewest has anything to contribute to this discussion since he was in the thick of things when all this took place. Perhaps jjkirk has something to contribute to as well.
