Sounds like your friend was fortunate enough to get out of the market just before the fed rates crashed it.

I didn't understand his comment about how LTBH doesn't work for tech but I assume he feels LTBH means you buy something and forget about it for 10 years. If the stocks are truly long term you probably don't even need to read the newspaper or keep up with things. I know these stocks exist but it is hard for me to think of a list of stocks that have great growth and fall in this category. Did he give you a short list of his LTBH stocks that have had great growth and will continue this trend?

It seems to me that most LTBH tech guys consider a year or two long term and keeping up with the times is a must because technology demands (and winners) change.
