we grind up until major tax payments are needed on 12/15 and 1/15

My experience has been a tax sell off around 12/15 and then some buying back late in December. Then a few days of big selling in early Jan (1st week or so). The extent of the selling depends on how much stocks have run up and what kind of expectations people have for the next 6 months. It will be all over by 1/15
