If you rode a bicycle into a Mosque chewing gum in a tee shirt and shorts with beer on your breath

I'm sure you know I wouldn't do that. It would be uncivil. You've been around me long enough to know I'm not uncivil.

Bill, I don't believe in a deity. If I don't believe something exists, there's an implied disrespect there. Duh! The only way to eliminate that implication is for me to say I believe when I don't or keep my thoughts to myself. I shouldn't have to do that.

If you've been following this discussion, you know that I was cautious about my expression and that I had reason to believe that it wasn't a problem. I've been expressing my religious beliefs here since the beginning of the thread. Now, all of a sudden, what I'm saying is offensive. I can avoid saying "imaginary friend" on this thread if that's a hot button, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pretend to be pious or be silent just so no one infers some disrespect.

Do you remember the college guy that was accused of using a racial epithet--he said some noisy women sounded like "water buffalos" when they walked by the dorm? There's only so much one can cater to sensitivities.
