Intel was developing 193nm on SVG and ASML and other equipment when AMD was trying to get 0.35 micron to work for the K6.

Don't forget, Intel formed the Extreme Unltraviolet (EUV) research consortium on lithography techniques.

AMD joined the group later and paid about 1/10 the funding of Intel. Guess who gets first customer status on the equipment and who gets the leftovers.
