I've never simpered in my life. Ick!!!! Simper??? How woosie and gay can you get? (and as a lesbian I can diss however I want, so there)

but... that very thin line between turning the other cheek and protecting your world... well, it's hard. and it should be hard. It makes you decide slowly, and with thought... and it makes you understand the consequences for those who protect you on the physical plane.

If someone kills on my behalf, to protect me... that is an amazing thing.

and soldiers kill on our behalf. By proxy.

We live because they kill.

They take life. And there is not good taking of life. It might be need. It might be necessary. But it is still taking life. Think about it. Picture yourself as the one who takes a life. A life of someone who knew no better than that they would die if they didn't fight. They aren't "evil" (that would make it easy) They were made to do it or die. Die either way. So they die at your hands. It is your hand that kills them. But that one life you take will save 100. Would you do it? And what would it mean? Would it mean nothing to your soul. Or would you be a killer? What do we ask of those who protect us?
