New York, Nov. 27 (Bloomberg) -- Finisar Corp. shares fell in extended trading after the maker of fiber-optic equipment said its fiscal second-quarter loss widened as sales declined.

Some of the largest U.S. computer-related companies gained after the 4 p.m. close of regular trading, including Sun Microsystems Inc. and Oracle Corp., the biggest maker of database software. Cisco Systems Inc., the most active stock in trading of 2.5 million shares, gained 5 cents to $19.75.

Finisar, among the most active stocks, dropped 11 percent to $11.39 as 375,300 shares were traded.

The Nasdaq 100 Index, which includes some of biggest companies whose shares are traded on the Nasdaq Stock Market, gained 1.96, less than 1 percent, to 1611.83 in extended trading, trimming its 9.78 loss from earlier in the day. About 49 million shares were traded after 4 p.m., Nasdaq said, down from 62 million yesterday.

U.S. stock index futures were little changed. December futures on the Nasdaq 100 Index rose 1.00 to 1617.00. Standard & Poor's 500 Index futures fell 0.80 to 1149.70.
