re: as usually I was probably mistaken (wrong) but I got an impression from you that goodwill is used as a reserve for future expenses.
I believe we were talking about why Intel's goodwill assets tend to grow over time, while AMD's goodwill was labeled as zero (this might not have been your argument, but it was what started it). I was merely explaining that this was probably due to Intel's run of acquisitions over the past couple years, which, according to your article, can be amortized for up to 40 years. then again, maybe I am mistaken as well.
