SINGAPORE, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Solectron Corp, the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer, said on Wednesday it expects two-thirds of revenues to come from Asia in five years and hopes to grow China sales by 40-50 percent per year.
"Two-thirds of revenues would come from Asia," Koichi Nishimura, Solectron's chairman, president and chief executive officer, told a news conference in Singapore.
Nishimura said one-third of Solectron's revenues now came from the region.
Chester Lin, executive vice president of Solectron Asia Pacific, said the China market had vast potential for growth.
"From Solectron's standpoint, we will try to grow 40-50 percent in that area," he said. "That is the fastest growth area."
Lin said U.S.-based Solectron's current sales revenue in China totalled about US$1 billion per year.
Earlier on Wednesday, Solectron and German computer chip maker Infineon Technologies announced an alliance to offer a design solution for wireless communications devices.
Solectron also said it will locate its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore. |
