Irwin Jacobs' CNBC talk re : G* Aviation Safety System (I think that is the name being used).

Dr. J was on from about 7:18 A.M. - 7:23 A.M. today (11/28/01).

So, everyone who believed that the interview was scheduled for 7:30 -- I hope you were not too "tight" if you set your VCR ...

I thought Dr. J was just great.

He explained the concept of the system clearly and succinctly.

Mark Haines (of CNBC) introduced the idea of "Qualcomm has expertise in monitoring transportation vehicles" through its OmniTRACS product.

Dr. J had (what I thought was) an interesting "surprise" :

through a BREW software application (and Verizon), someone on an aircraft using one of these G* systems can see video from aircraft video cameras on their ordinary cellphone !

Dr. J said that the "sky marshalls" might all want to do this ...

Also, Dr. J pointed out (that in his opinion) that the cost of the system (around $200,000 per plane) is not prohibitive.

Jon.
