Well, here's the story that talks about the envelope. They quote the New York Times, so you might find the source there, but here is what the El Mercurio story says:
One source that raises doubts over the presence of anthrax in the letter is a photo of the envelope seen by the investigators. The daily (I think they mean the NY Times) explains that the photo shows the that the envelope had two windows (one for the sender's address and another for the destiantion), but apparerently open, without cellophane covering or any other transparent material.

The other day the paper said the anthrax was "adobado" the the side of the envelope, but I'm not sure what they mean in this context, it is something like stuck to, or built up, etc. Makes more sense if the windows were open, they would need some other way to fix it to the side.
All in all, I would discount this as being in the same category as the US cases, and would be investigating Banfi or someone close to him. Especially since he is the one who reported the envelope, and nobody has gotten sick. |
