I am tolerant of all religions. I respect some more than others. For example, I don't respect fundamentalist Islam. Or fundamentalist anything. I don't respect superstition, not in this day and age. I don't think I need to pretend that I do. I don't go out of my way to dis anything, but when pressed, I'm not going to lie about it. And I'm not going deny my beliefs. I'm going to express them in as non-judgmental and kind a way as I can. If that's too distressing for someone, well, it's the best that I can do.

Well put. I agree.
Of course, you're a nicer person than me, or at least less confrontational. Although I won't (intentionally) be rude about someone's religion unless they try and convert me... I equally won't pretend that I believe that its deities have any existence or any power over me or the world I live in - the actions of humans who do believe can affect me, naturally. And if someone tries to argue otherwise to me, I'll contradict them.

Respecting another's religious customs is politeness, but, more, is fair tolerance. Why should I go into their religious place and proclaim my (non)belief - I don't appreciate the reverse, after all.
