But your thinking appears to be limited to the number of hits on the search engine !

There is a lot more to technology than hits on a search engine.

Intel passed on SOI claiming that the performance improvement was not adequate for the 0.13micron and beyond. However SOI when coupled with other innovations like raised Source Drains and new dielectrics addresses newer problems caused by shrinking the transistors, like leaky transistors and gates.

Yes AMD will be earlier to SOI than Intel. But that does not mean anything.

If being first to SOI was a factor is business success, companies like RCA and Inselek ( SOS pioneers in 60's and 70's) would have dominated the chip industry.( Both these companies are no longer in the business of chip making). The trick is to use a technology at the right time when the the cost and development effort are worth the performance and business benefits.

Using a search engine to argue the business merits of a new technical approach is meaningless.
