From the "Thank-God-There-Will-Always-Be-An-SEC-To-Protect-Us-From-Fraud" Department.......

"You won't see the SEC be easy on anyone," said Frank Velie, a former U.S. attorney..."

"...the Seaboard case is the only enforcement action to occur since the new policies were put in place... observers say it's likely they could be applied to Enron in the SEC investigation."

"[In Seaboard] The SEC reached a settlement directly with the former controller, where she agreed not to violate securities laws in the future."

Question: Absent the "settlement" in Seaboard, can we assume the controller would have remained free to violate securities laws in the future?
