Eric--You're right. I hadn't seen the actual figures when I posted last night, only the ratio. I seem not to have been the only one to have caught on today, and the odious and absurdly named Rick Whittington's downgrades doubtless didn't help the sector. Rick is one of my least-favorite analysts. He rarely gets anything right in advance--just waits till something happens (in this case a poopy BTB) and reacts to it. Some months ago, as chip prices tanked, he noted that "a drop in product price may affect company revenues" He was talking about LSI; they'd just announced an earnings disappointment, so he cut his own estimates to conform to the info they'd released. THEN, perhaps again for LSI, he predicted '97 eps to be "in a range of $1.00 to $2.00". Why not just offer a "range" of zero to ten dollars: no chance of going wrong there. Sorry to rant, but he really gets up my nose. Janice
