Patricia:

It is odd that all those scientists who JUST HAPPENED to be working on the same project suicided. It seems incredible.

This corporation tax break is the result, not of our representatives at work, but lobbyists pulling another coup for big business. I moved from CA ten years ago, and am only vaguely familiar with Arianna Huffington. That's a good article.

Here, in Oregon, some group is running ads encouraging the public to call State Senator Gordon Smith, even providing his phone number, to complain about this windfall of cash he and others handed over to corporations. ARe you seeing similar ads in CA telling folks to call the reps? We here are very fortunate to have Rep. Peter de Fazio. I've caught him a few times on CSPAN speaking, most recently condemning this shameless corporate welfare package.

Even before 911, as a matter of fact on 9/8 I was talking to a HEwlitt Packard employee who said that they were being told the merger with compaq would lead to a loss of 40,000 jobs. This three days before 9/11. I know other companies wanted to dump employees and the 9/11 event was their opportunity to do so. Where is the incentive for corporations to hire anyone back, when they get the tax rebates without having to do so?
