Forensic Video Analysis Throughput Boosted by AMD Microprocessors; Intergraph Government Solutions Adds High-End Graphics Workstation to Video Analyst Product Line

newsalert.com

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 27, 2001--It's not just another computer, especially if you're working in the intensive world of forensic video analysis. Built around dual AMD(R) 1.2 GHz Athlon(R) processors, Video Analyst(TM) System 400 is the newest addition to the Video Analyst product line offered by Intergraph Government Solutions (Nasdaq:INGR). The high-powered computer workstation processes video data two to four times faster than its predecessor.

"This configuration is ideally suited for high-speed video processing," said development manager, Gene Grindstaff. "The Athlon's larger cache means it can hold and process more data internally and its dual bus structure allows one processor to read video data while the other one manipulates and writes it back out. When dealing with video data, throughput is everything."

The new Video Analyst System 400 includes a computer workstation with two high-speed AMD processors and appropriate disk space, graphics and memory to support the graphics-intensive needs of the video editing application. Display options include a 21-inch color CRT, 21-inch flat panel LCD display and the industry's first 24-inch viewable HDTV-ready WUXGA LCD display. The computer is delivered with Video Analyst software, Intergraph's state-of-the-art video analysis product.

Video Analyst uses industry-standard Adobe(R) Premiere(R) video editing and custom Intergraph-developed software, as well as NASA-patented Video Image Stabilization and Registration (VISAR*) technology to capture, edit and enhance video data for forensic use. Adobe Premiere is a fully threaded application, which means that it takes full advantage of the multiple AMD processors. VISAR technology gained national attention in 1996 when the FBI used it to analyze video of the bombings at the Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta. The Video Analyst system provides enhancement capabilities for law enforcement, military, intelligence, surveillance and security applications, where harsh conditions often affect the quality of captured video. Video Analyst 400 will be showcased November 28-29, 2001, at the Government Video Technology Expo in Washington, D.C.

"We're always looking for superior technical solutions to problems that are unique to the forensic video environment. The fact that the average person is now videotaped eight times a day illustrates how prevalent video is in our everyday life," explained Trey McKay, executive manager of the Federal Hardware Solutions business unit at Intergraph Government Solutions. "While VISAR solves many problems with shaky, jittery video, these dual Athlon processors really boost the performance and throughput of the Video Analyst workstation."
