Amein, You said, "IGIT, may be it was not clear... the verses (begining with 2:190) were revealed to Prophet Muhammad pbuh when the companions feared a repeat of what happened the year before... a very specific situation" Well, why is the pilgrammage talked about in 2:196 saying to give gifts if prevented from it, and then we have to look earlier in 2:190 for the self defense angle the writer tries to suggest, if prevented from making the trip? If the self defense scripture was revealed after the pilgrammage the year before, why isn't 2:196 before 2:190, especially when they contradict one another? How should we expected to read 2:196, and then have to go back to 2:190 to see what to do a year later? We would need some type of a map, to know how to read these verses in their proper order because numerical sequencing would not apply. That would be tricky and make it very hard for the common person to understand. God Bless, IGIT
