China Unicom Group signed cable landing MOU with AX
From mikejw (Fools board thru rpg45 Yahoo GX club board) chinaunicom.com.hk

Hong Kong, November 26, 2001 - China United Telecommunications Corporation ("Unicom Group"), the parent company of China Unicom Limited (HKSE: 0762; NYSE: CHU) announced today that it has recently signed a memorandum of understanding ("the MOU") with Asia Global Crossing ("AGC") in Beijing for the landing of the East Asia Crossing (EAC) and Pacific Crossing (PC-1) subsea cables at Unicom Group Qingtao International Subsea Cable Landing Station with the approval of relevant Chinese authority. This marks the official launch of the first independent international subsea cable landing station wholly owned by Unicom Group.

The completion of this landing not only represents the beginning of Unicom Group to possess its own international subsea cable landing station but also greatly strengthens the competitiveness of Unicom Group in expanding its international business. Both parties are very confident in and optimistic about the cooperation.
